Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) is one of the most common neuropathies affecting the upper limb. This condition is accompanied by unpleasant symptoms in the thumb, index finger, and part of the ring finger, including tingling, numbness, and discomfort. It significantly hinders daily functioning, often leading to many sleepless nights and causing irreversible damage to the hand. The symptoms result from pressure on the median nerve, which runs through the carpal tunnel.
A breakthrough treatment for CTS is a non-surgical and painless procedure called hydrodissection, performed at Poland Medical by Dr Grzegorz Suchy.
Median nerve hydrodissection is a non-invasive, non-surgical treatment that involves injection with an ultrasound guidance. During the procedure a special fluid is injected into the carpal tunnel. This fluid helps release the nerve, enabling its regeneration. Recovery after the procedure takes only five days.
The primary goals of hydrodissection are:
- Expanding the carpal tunnel space,
- Relieving the median nerve from pressure caused by the thickened transverse ligament, improving its mobility,
- Enhancing venous outflow,
- Eliminating the symptoms associated with carpal tunnel syndrome.
Median nerve hydrodissection is performed under local anaesthesia.
